The diagnostic tool gathers fundamental information about the device and performs a series of checks on various aspects of the device's connection profile.

Device Status

The Device Status section displays basic information regarding the device's network connection, including its current data session activity, SIM card status, and any restrictions on the device. Additionally, it shows the active rate plan and the amount of data used in the current billing cycle.

Provisioning

The Provisioning test assesses whether the device is properly set up and activated by consulting the Control Center's records. Possible outcomes of this test may vary.

Colour

Description

Green

With the present SIM condition, passing traffic is allowed.

Red

As mandated by its policy plan, the device is currently throttled for excessive usage. For more information, see Traffic Management (ADD-ON).

SIM/Device

Through a review of the device's configuration in the Control Center databases, the SIM/Device test assesses the device's capacity to consume network resources. Possible outcomes of the exam consist of:

Colour

Description

Green

Wireless network resources can be used by the device.

Yellow

As mandated by its policy plan, the device is currently throttled for excessive usage.

Red

  • The reason for the device's network ban could be its unexpectedly aggressive behaviour, or it could be a sign of a broken device.

  • Because the device has been used more than its configured overage limits, it has been suspended.

  • According to its policy plan, the device is currently blocked for excessive usage.

Network Connection

The Network Connection test determines whether the device can connect to the wireless network by looking up the device's current status in the HLR/HSS/UDM logs and on the HLR/HSS/UDM.

The Network Connection test results for devices connected to an LTE network are derived from both SS7 and Diameter events. Note that this test does not indicate the specific kinds of events (SS7 or Diameter) that have taken place.

Colour

Description

Green

The device has established a data connection successfully. For further insights into the uplink or downlink activity of the ongoing session, refer to Spotlight. Sessions with no data transfer will still yield a Green outcome in this test since a connection is present. Nonetheless, in Spotlight, sessions with zero data transfer will be highlighted in the Interesting Events section.

Yellow

The device has previously established successful connections within the last 30 days, although it is not connected at the moment. Should the device attempt to connect again, it is expected to achieve a successful connection based on its history.

Red

The device is currently disconnected and has no record of successful connections in the past, suggesting there might be issues with the data service identifier (APN/DNN) or the device's IP configuration. It could also imply that the device is facing challenges in opening ports or sockets.

IP/Internet

The IP/Internet test assesses the device's capability to communicate with the customer's servers. It examines whether the device currently has, or has had, successful data sessions in the past. The evaluation includes reviewing the device's configuration on the Radius server for data service permissions, its record of authorization attempts, and the generation of any Call Detail Records (CDRs). The possible outcomes of this are the following.

Colour

Description

Green

The device has successfully initiated a data session. For more information on the current session's uplink or downlink traffic, refer to Spotlight. Sessions that transmit no data will still receive a Green status in this test, as a connection is in place. However, sessions with no data usage will be flagged in the Interesting Events section within Spotlight.

Yellow

The device has a history of successful data sessions within the recent 30-day period, yet it is not presently online. If the device attempts to establish a connection now, it is anticipated to connect successfully based on its past performance.

Red

The device is currently offline and lacks a record of any successful connections, which may point to issues with the data service identifier (APN/DNN), the device's IP configuration, or difficulties in opening ports or sockets.
